Matching Valentine's Dresses

I'm sure by now you've figured out Valentine's Day is just around the corner.  I've been posting about it for a bit now.

To wrap up the Valentine's Day blig fun, I am putting together matching dresses for my favorite nieces for their dolls. One has a #welliewishers and the other a #hearts4hearts.

I've recently resigned the #elliesstyle Lisle dress for the #welliewishers which allows me to pull this off.

The #welliewishers dress is white with pink hearts accented with a pink fabric with white hearts (you might recognize these descriptions from the recent #Barbie post). The #hearts4hearts dress is in the pink fabric accented with the white fabric. So while the match, its not exact.

I look forward to delivering this #valentines wish to my favorite nieces.

A Barbie Valentine

A few weeks ago, I turned around at church and into my view came the most adorable little girls.  Seeing them sitting there with their dad reminded me of when my favorite niece and I started attending the church a couple weeks after the memorial service for my college sweetheart fourteen years earlier.

My story gave my favorite niece an idea.  And this project was started.

Using #Simplicity 4719 view C and some #Valentine fabric I found while unpacking in my new workshop, two dresses emerged.

#Simplicity 4719 view C is a strapless princess line short dress.

The first dress was made from a pink cotton with white hearts in a flower arrangement print.

The second dress was made from a white cotton with a pink heart print.

For the picture,  my tall fashionista #Barbie modeled one of the dresses putting in her first appearance on the blog.

WellieWisher Lollipop Garden Party

Emily (#WellieWisher Camille) saw the #Forever18Inches pattern Lollipop Garden Party dress on #PixieFaire, she was determined to wear the dress.

Emily picked out a pink gingham fabric, dark pink ribbons and light pink buttons for the dress.  The dress is a two piece dress with optional bloomers.

The skirt is a faux wrap skirt with a ribbon accent around the hem edges.  The top features buttons at the shoulder and a ribbon/button detail at the waist.

Emily paired it with light pink shoes for the photo shoot.

Regency Dress and Pelisse

#AmericanGirlDoll Caroline got her new pattern on #PixieFaire freebie Friday a few months ago and has been patiently waiting for her new look to move to the top of the priority list.

The pattern by Thimbles and Acorns is an empire waist dress with a pelisse.

For the dress we used a white eyelet with a light pink chiffon overlay. And then we picked a light pink eyelet and a matching cotton lining.

The look was finished with light pink buttons and Caroline's pink shoes.

Pink Party Dress

Inspired by the modern trend of sheer clothes, I designed the pattern for a sleeveless dress with a sheer yoke, a dropped waist  and a short skirt with a flounce of tulle underneath.

For this look a sheer pink fabric with a sequin pattern was paired with a brighter pink satin and a sparkle tulle for the skirt.

The bodice and skirt are overlaid with the sheer pink fabric creating a look with a different shade of pink than either the sheer or the satin.

The pattern was created using the Hearts4Hearts Sloper set which was part of the Liberty Jane Pattern Academy.

Let it Snow

With winter deciding to make an appearance, #Hearts4HeartsGirls Shola decided it was time for a new coat.

After checking out all the options, she decided that her favorite was the one Caroline modeled for "Warm in Cream" on sewdolledup.blogspot.com.  Seeing as the pattern was designed for 18"dolls, alterations had to be made to the pattern so it would fit her 14" size.

For fabric, Shola chose a pink felt and pink bead buttons.

And the weather decided to cooperate for her photo shoot with a pause in the storm long enough to get pictures with a nice dusting of snow in the background.

Think Pink 2014

Its October, National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

To show her support, Shola put together this pink outfit.

Her pink t-shirt sports a pink ribbon.

Her skirt is a pink and white houndstooth print and box pleated.

Shola has accessorized the look with a belt of pink ribbons and pearls.

For her hair, she braided it around her face like a headband.
