Alicia (#JourneyGirl Kayla) was looking at the new #AmericanGirlDoll patterns from #Simplicity. She couldn't decide on a single look. She liked the sheer yoke on #8039 and the high low skirt on #8040.
We decided to blend the two looks. Given that the #JourneyGirl dolls are a bit smaller around than the #AmericanGirlDolls, adjustments were made so the bodice and yoke fit properly. The skirt was also adjusted to remove the casing for the elastic as it was being sewn to the bodice instead.
A red chiffon was used for the yoke an sleeves. The rest of the dress was cut from the snowflake fabric.
Along the yoke seam and the hem, a silver ribbon was added for sparkle.

Emily's Snowflake Christmas Dress
Emily, #WellieWishers Camille, was looking through the JC Penney holiday ad and noticed a dress in the ad she wanted. The dress had a sheer yoke, fitted bodice and circle skirt.
Using my skills from #LibertyJaneClothing Pattern Academy, I set out to draft the pattern for her. After a couple muslin tests, I reached the look Emily wanted.
I cut the yoke out of a red chiffon. The rest of the dress is cut from the snowflake fabric. The yoke was stitched to the bodice pieces, both the fabric and the lining pieces. Then the lining was stitched to the bodice at the neckline and armholes. Using a safety pin on each bottom of the back lining piece, the bodice was turned right side out.
The skirt was a quarter circle cut on the fold. The skirt was slightly gathered to the bodice then hemmed.
Emily finished the look out with a red ribbon headband, silver ribbon belt, red shoes and white tights.

Zelia's Snowflake Christmas
#Hearts4HeartsGirls Zelia thought she wanted the #LibertyJaneClothing UK Holiday outfit for her Christmas look, but it wasn't available in her size. So I shrunk the BFC Inc. version of the pattern to 77%. The #Hearts4HeartsGirls are closer in proportions to the BFC Inc. dolls than the #AmericanGirlDoll.
The top was cut from the snowflake fabric. Once the top was put together to the point of the waist elastic, Zelia tried it on. And decided she actually liked the look as a long loose tunic with just the silver ribbon tie at the waist better. So the final piece of elastic was not put in.
The leggings were made from a red rib knit.

Anniversary Bride Barbie
While most of the bride #Barbie dolls I have made are for wedding presents, this time is was different. I was given wedding pictures and asked to make a #Barbie for a 45th wedding anniversary.
With all the "changes" #Barbie has undergone this year, the hardest part of doing a custom doll has become creating a pattern that fits. So first I had to create a sloper for this particular doll's body shape. A task that was complicated by the fact that unbeknownst to us when the doll was purchased, the doll is standing with one hip cocked higher than the other. Once I got the sloper, I was able to create the pattern.
This dress was the equivalent of a satin strapless dress with a full lace overlay. The lace goes to a collar around the neck, into long full sleeves gathered to a cuff at the wrist and then over the entire skirt to the floor.
Then beads were sewn onto the lace at planned intervals. I used 11/0 white glass beads (the original had pearl beads sewn every third flower).
The bouquet is red ribbon roses circled by white ribbon roses. And the stems were covered in a silver ribbon.
The headpiece is the glass beads strung on a wire to encircle the dolls head and then tulle gathered and sewn to the bead circle.
In the end, the look has a very 70s vibe to it.

Megan's Snowflake Christmas Dress
For Megan (#welliewishers Willa) we decided to design a sleeveless look with a square neckline, empire waist and slightly gathered skirt.
The waist is accented with a silver ribbon. And the skirt has a silver ribbon stripe accent near the hem.
We are currently discussing the idea of a jacket to go over it as Christmas might not be the best time to go sleeveless, but so far it hasn't happened.
Megan paired her new shoes found on Etsy with this dress and red ribbons in her pigtails to complete the look.

Shola's Snowflake Jumper
In keeping with this year's Christmas theme of a red snowflake fabric and silver accents, #Hearts4HeartsGirls Shola decided she'd like a jumper and top.
Shola's picked out the LJC Hearts for Hearts Baseball Tee in a silver knit. The pattern pieces were laid out on the edges of a sequin knit. Most of the pieces were in the edges without sequin, but adjusted so that the sequin would appear at the top almost like a yoke.
Then for the jumper, she picked out the Forever 18 Inches Faux Button Jumper in the snowflake fabric. We found white buttons with red polka dots on them which blend into the print as the top had enough bling and the look didn't need more accents.

Anna's Christmas Snowflake Top
Anna was checking out all the new patterns from the Simplicity sale and decided she really like the style of the view D dress from Simplicity 8282.
So we cut the view D dress out and put it together using all snowflake print fabric with a silver ribbon tie.
Once we had it all together, Anna felt the look was too fussy for her and wanted it as a top instead. So we cut off the ruffle and then re-hemmed. Then we added 1/8th inch silver ribbon at the yoke seam.
Paired with her jeans, Anna felt the top was a much better fit for her personality and body shape.
